BEIER DRUMS-WINTER 2010

THANK YOU FOR 2010 FROM BEIER DRUMS~

A very special Thank You to EVERYONE for a great year in 2010. I sincerely appreciate all of your interest, feedback & suggestions. Your use of a Beier Drum at home, for teaching, in the  studio, on your new releases, in live performance, and on tour ...Means a great deal to me. The number of players I hear from is remarkable, and I enjoy the correspondence from all of you-Worldwide.
THE BEIER 5.5 x 14---1.5 STEEL SNARE DRUM~
In 2011 I will be introducing the Beier 1.5 Steel Snare Drum. I have been testing the drum live for several months now-And the response has been spectacular. While Steel has been traditionally bright...This particular drum has a much rounder and warmer tone. The shell is heavy, the bearing edges are straight, and it will be powder coated. Overall, like all of my snares, it will have a very, very, nostalgic vibe to it. I have really enjoyed working with Steel. It is extremely dense, but it forms really well. I can honestly say-It has been my favorite metal to work with to date. Steel was a mainstay in the drum world in earlier years. It is time to re-visit it-In a big way.
MERCHANDISE~
I am just finishing putting together a really nice line of  Merchandise for 2011. All of the items are embroidered. I am extremely happy the way the items have turned out. They are really unique & affordable. The detail of the embroidery is excellent. Look for an update early in the year when the items are available...
NEW WEBSITE~
Please visit the newly redesigned website if you have not. I have heard from many of you about it already....Glad you like it. It is easy to navigate, and is to the point! A Very Special Thank You to the photographers who allowed me to use their images of players and bands. We live in a world of Trademarks, Copyrights & Patents. It is necessary. However-If you just simply ask people for their permission...It is amazing how responsive they are. Not only did all of these photographers respond immediately-They all offered to send additional images, larger images with higher pixelation, and could not have been nicer to deal with. Taking great pictures is an Art. It is just a moment-That will never present itself in the same way again. It is a lot of work to do it well, and these people do. Thank You To: Nicolas Gaire-Photo of Andy Parker. John Gellman for all of the additional information & the great pic of The Outlaws. Daniela Vorndran for the shot of Achim Farber. Looking forward to meeting you Daniela when I am back in Germany. Finally...Thanks & Hugs to Dori Lawrence for the incredible shot of Dave Plesh at The Viper Room.
WRAP UP~
2011 will bring changes to the line-up at Beier Drums. However-The focus will not change. My agenda has always been to bring out a standard & traditionally designed drum, that is visually stunning. For the eye-That is nice. But the most important element-Is that it sounds like a drum should. There sometimes is an over-emphasis on the appearance of drums today. Drums are a Musical Instrument. They have been, and still are, the foundation of any musical ensemble-Of any type..

Happy Holidays~
